One of the oldest Coweta arts organizations is the Young Artists of Newnan and Coweta County, which has been influential in the lives of many Cowetans down through the years, thereby fulfilling the vision of its founder, Bette Hickman, who still directs the group. In addition to the regular sessions, there are special projects featured from time to time. The next of these will be the Valentine Card Project.
The following announcement was recently issued by the Young Artists publicity director, Teri Lewis:
The Young Artists of Newnan & Coweta County will soon begin their annual Valentine Card Project. Students will create and design their very own personal Valentine Cards with the assistance of Mrs. Bette Hickman and Mrs. Teri Lewis .
This annual project was introduced by Mrs. Bette approximately 28 years ago and is loved by everyone, still! Students will have the opportunity to follow a design process that many "card-shop" artists still follow today. A special visit from a local graphics artist will highlight the entire process as she explains the steps the card must travel through once it leaves the artists' hands.
If you have a young artist who is interested in joining our classes, please give us a call right away to reserve their spot in class. Mrs. Teri Lewis (770) 254-9811 - you may need to leave a message and she will return your call
