GARDEN NOTES from the Artist Hi Everyone! Thanks for stopping by! I hope you had a chance to preview our new movie: Little Garden Stories. It celebrates learning with stories, music and craft-time for kids. As a children's book illustrator, I've had the privilage to work some great projects. Garden is my first original production and I had lots of help along the way. My good friends at Family Tree Media created the award wining babyfaith videos and they have been my mentors! Jess Stainbrook was one the first people I shared the movie with. Thier producer Mark Burr has worked on Baby Einstein and The Safe Side. He has been a great help and has a great eye for what works for children's videos! The art and animation was created by me using a laptop and Flash as my primary software. The photography is images I took and includes places like Dunaway Gardens to my own backyard in Newnan, Georgia. I am always taking pictures of flowers! Garden music started with my friend, Joey Agee. His wife was one of my daughter's teachers. Joey wrote some jammin tunes with my lyrics and recorded everything at his studio. We found wonderful Georgia musicians to play. We are proud of the local talent and I have to say "Georgia Rocks!" Our singers, Dana Widener and Jeremy Williams are local worship leaders and busy parents. Their voices are great and I hope we hear more recordings from them! The process has taken over a year and a half and it involved the whole family with my daughters creating Craft-Time fun. The stories were inspired by time spent in our backyard. We moved to Georgia from Colorado and fireflies were something new to my girls. They became the star of a story I made up. We always make up stories at our house and these had great potential. I am thankful for the MANY friends and family who helped me build my dream. I hope it will inspire you to share creative time with your young artist! Be sure to check out the resource pages for creative teaching tools. My girls came up with some fun SING ALONG MOTIONS to all the songs! You can print them out for FREE! I hope to see you this spring and summer at a Craft-Time visit! Keep Growing!!! Joyce Revoir | |||||||
You are invited to Celebrate Learning with Stories, Music and Craft-Time for Kids! Little Garden Stories the first Read-Along DVD and Sing-Along CD for Children Joyce Revoir Illustration & Design and FamliyTree Media present Little Garden Stories, the first Read-Along DVD and Sing-Along CD for children ages 2-8. The Little Firefly and The Noisy Cricket star in their own animated, musical stories. For her first movie, Joyce Revoir was awarded a 2007 Telly Award for non-broadcast, children's audience. "Little Garden Stories" which features "The Little Firefly" and "The Noisy Cricket" is the first read-along DVD and sing-along CD for children ages 2-8 to celebrate learning with stories, music and craft-time. Joyce grew up in Destin, Florida and her creative career has taken her to three major markets: Nashville, Denver and Atlanta. Since opening her design studio in 1998, she has illustrated more than fourteen children's books including "Sam's Rainbow" by Grammy® award-winning recording artist, Sandi Patty, "The Legend of The Christmas Kiss" (Howard Publishing) and "Alpha-kidZ" by Cindy G. Foust. As former art director for Sparrow Records/EMI-CMG, Joyce created packaging for some of Christian music's biggest names including Steven Curtis Chapman, FFH, Wes King and Switchfoot. Clients included World Vision, LifeWay, and MOPS International. After meeting award-winning producer, Mark Burr, best known for his work with Baby Einstein and for co-creating babyfaith, Joyce began to pursue animation. "Then soon after, we moved to Atlanta, and my daughters saw fireflies for the first time. Their delightful reaction was the inspiration for the stories," Joyce explains. Designing for a child's eye with a parent's perspective, Joyce's daughter's contributed ideas to the movie, Joyce combined her music and book publishing experience to develop, "Little Garden Stories." She uses signature bright colors and narrations with original songs, co-written by Joyce and Joey Agee of Newnan, GA. Agee recorded the music with local musicians. The engaging characters, motion and color quickly capture attention, stimulating imagination of children as they sing and dance along to the lively, thirty-minute presentation. In the first story, a firefly dreams of becoming a big star when an angel shares the lesson, "Just shine where you are and let love be your light." A cricket then teaches the value of harmony by inspiring the garden to sing and work together. A silly sing-along with a ladybug and a craft-time segment with Joyce's daughters complete the video. Upon completion, Joyce shared the movie with Burr and his business partner, Emmy® award-winning producer, Jess Stainbook. The filmmakers coached Joyce and added the release to their company's catalogue at www.babyfaith.com. Little Garden Stories DVD/CD are also available at littlegardenstories.com, foxsalescompany.com and Atlanta-area stores including Scott's Book Store, Ansley's Attic, Hastings, Shenanigan's Toys, Peachtree City Christian Church and Images Gallery for $17.95.
