Two Newnan Classical Dance Theatre Students Accepted into Top School in US
The Classical Dance Theatre has been making a great contribution to the Coweta arts scene both in terms of sponsoring recitals and of providing excellent dance instruction. Classical Dance Theatre spokesman Greta Watkins recently issued an exciting announcement: two CDT students have just been notified of their admission into a special instruction program offered by the top dance school in the USA -- The Orlando Ballet School in Orlando, Florida. Here is verbatim her announcement about latest triumph:
Classical Dance Theatre dancers, Sarah Olson (age 15) and Nani Yim
(age 12) will be travelling to Orlando, Florida to train intensively this
summer with the Orlando Ballet School. The Orlando Ballet School has
been voted the "Best School" at the New York Finals of the Youth
America Grand Prix (YAGP). Miss Olson and Miss Yim had to audition to be
accepted into this highly competitive program. Only dancers with an
intermediate or advanced dance background are accepted into Orlando Ballet's
summer program.
Both dancers will be studying ballet, pointe, jazz, modern, and yoga,
along with other dance-related training. In Orlando, Miss Olson and
Miss Yim will attend six hours of classes, Monday through Friday, and
two and a half hours of classes on Saturday, for five weeks.
Miss Yim and Miss Olson both train at Classical Dance Theatre (CDT),
home of the Southeastern Ballet Company (SBC). Classical Dance Theatre
is located at 1065 Sullivan Road in Newnan. Both dancers will be
performing in CDT's upcoming Spring Concert to be held on May 31.
