Daniel Piar, Paul Conlan, Anne Berry Winners in Arts Clayton Photo Exhibit

Piar Wins Best In Show, Conlan First Place, Berry Honorable Mention

Karen Powers, Manager of Arts Clayton Gallery, has announced the winners in its 5th Annual Juried Photography Show and Competition, presented in conjunction with  the Atlanta Celebrates Photography Festival.  Best In Show was won by Daniel Piar of Sharpsburg for his entry Ladder.  First Place was won by Paul Conlan of Newnan for his Take A Seat.  And Anne Berry of Newnan won Honorable Mention for her entry Zebra.

The Arts Clayton Gallery will purchase the Best of Show Winner Ladder for its Permanent Collection.  In addition, Mr. Piar will be offered the opportunity for a solo feature show in the gallery in 2009.  Winners of First, Second and Third places received cash prizes.

"We are very excited to include such an incredible example of photography in our Permanent Collection", says Powers.   Echoing the judges' comments, Powers says, Ladder turns the ordinary into the extraordinary.  It a solid, well thought out, perfectly executed image ideally presented."

The judges also had high praise for Conlan's Have A Seat:  "This work displays perfect exposure, a great composition.  It also shows perfect color which is very difficult to do with a single color. ...  It excels because it made an ordinary object and moment very special."
The 5th Annual Juried Photography Show and Competition exhibit will be on display
September 30 through October 31, 2008.    Admission to the gallery is free.  The Arts Clayton Gallery is open Tuesday-Friday, 9-5pm, Saturdays 10-4pm.  All artwork is for sale, and net proceeds benefit the programs of Arts Clayton Inc.

This photographic art exhibition is one of the most important and prestigious visual arts events on the Southside.  The three Coweta photographers who won awards at this event provide the latest examples of the vitality of the Coweta arts scene.
