Coweta Based Etreasures Goes National
Twenty-Five Books Published in 2007
This has been a great year for the literary arts in Coweta County. Eleven Cowetans had books published this year, a Coweta Authors Book Signing Extravaganza was held this year, and the Coweta based etreasures publishing company expanded its operations this year and began publishing books across the nation (and even in Canada). By mid-December the number of the books they published for 2007 reached a total of twenty-five. Almost all of this publishing work was done by etreasures founder and director Vickie Kennedy of Newnan. Recently Kennedy has hired several people to help her in screening and editing manuscripts. The secret of etreasures' success lies in its streamlined, heavily computerized operation which allows it to publish books quickly and to pay the authors higher royalties than most publishers.
Coweta County will be receiving a lot of publicity in the Southeastern literary arts scene next year when the Southern Writers Conference (sponsored by etreasures) will be held in Newnan on April 5 and 6. Several hundred writers from Georgia and nearby states are expected to attend. Information on this Southern Writers Conference and on etreasures publishing company is available by visiting www.etreasurespublishing.com.
In recent years publicity has been given to the accomplishments of Coweta's visual artists and performing artists but until recently scant attention has been paid to Coweta's achievement in the literary arts. The Coweta Authors Book Signing Extravaganza, the growth of etreasures, and the Southern Writers Conference are bringing these literary achievements to light.
