SCAVA Traveling Exhibit "Artists Choice" Begins June 2 in PTC

This year's traveling exhibit of the Southern Crescent Alliance of Visual Artists (SCAVA) will not have its usual beginning early in the year at Arts Clayton.  Rather the 2007 Exhibit, which is called "Artists Choice" will start at the Peachtree City Library on June 2.  As usual,  Coweta Couty artists are well represented -- there are seven in all as noted below -- and this year's SCAVA President is a Cowetan, Barbara Scruggs of Grantville.  Scruggs has just released the information below:

Southern Crescent Artists presents Artist's Choice, a 2007 Traveling Exhibit, twenty artists from six southern crescent county art groups in exhibition, opens  June 2 at the Peachtree City Library.  The exhibit will travel to Thomaston-Upson Art Council in July and The Centre for Performing & Visual Arts of Coweta County in August. The exhibit will continue to other counties until December 31.

Artists from Fayette Society of Fine Arts in the exhibit are Lowell Crawford, Mary Greene, Sandy Holcomb, Norma Poulos, and Kimberly Purcell.

Artists from the Newnan-Coweta Art Association, Inc. are Sheri Anderson, Jerry Hetrick, Dixie Kraft, Martin Pate, Barbara Scruggs, Pam Trued, and Rebecca Wayne.

Douglas County Art Guild is Carol Collins and Arts Clayton, Inc. Edgar "Pete" Hughie.

From Carrollton Artist Guild are Janna Columbus, Anita Reid, and Mary Rogers.

Artists of the Visual Artists Collective of Henry County are Karen Casciani, Lynn McMeans, and Jean Wilkinson.

Many artists are members of one or more art groups.  The exhibit can be viewed on the website: www.scavagroup.com.

And the Southside Arts Agenda has this report:

A new traveling exhibit titled ARTIST'S CHOICE opens this week at the Peachtree City Library. Featuring the work of 20 artist from Arts Clayton, Carrollton Artist Guild, Douglas County Art Guild, Fayette Society of Fine Arts, Newnan-Coweta Art Association and the Henry County Visual Artists Collective. The exhibit remains in Peachtree City through June before moving on to Thomaston in July, and Newnan in August. This is one of the finest exhibits to be seen in the Southern Crescent as exemplified by the painting below by Henry County Artist, Jean Wilkinson, titled Mountain Creek.
