Coweta   Arts   Tidbits The  Successor  To  Newnan-Coweta  Arts  Council  News  Releases   Composed By:  Forrest W. Schultz  770-583-3258     August 25, 2008   Newnan-Coweta Historical Society Announces "Spirit Stroll"        One of the most popular events in Newnan is the annual "Spirit Stroll" sponsored by the Newnan-Coweta Historical Society.  Shelley Laurin has just issued this press release about this event on behalf of the Society.      SPIRITS STROLL, GOBLINS RUN THE STREETS OF NEWNAN   The high spirits of Halloween return to Newnan with The Spirit Stroll and The Goblin Run, two exciting events sponsored by the Newnan Coweta Historical Society.   This year, the popular Spirit Stroll will depart from the Male Academy at the corner of College Street and Temple Avenue and wend its way through the College Temple Historic District led by a costumed Spirit Guide who will reveal ghostly-and ghastly-doings associated with various historic homes along the way.   The Stroll takes about an hour, and participants are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes.  Dates for the Strolls are the last two Saturdays in October, the 18th and the 25th, with two tours scheduled for each date, at 7pm and 9pm.   In addition, a special Spirit Stroll, which includes Dinner Wth the Dead, will start  at 7pm on October 25th at one of the lovely historic homes in the College Temple district.  Tickets for this event are $40;  tickets for the other Strolls are $15.  Ticket reservations for all Strolls must be prepaid with advance reservations by calling  NCHS at 770-251-0207.   The Second Annual 5K Goblin Run, to be preceded by the 1 mile Fun Run and the Doggie Dash, will begin shortly after 9am at The Male Academy .  Face painting and free pumpkins will be available for the children, and special T shirts designed by Newnan High School graphic artists will be given to all pre-registred race participants.   All runners, including canines, are encouraged to come in costume.  Plaques will be awarded to the first three finishers in The Goblin Run in both men's and women's classes.  Entry fee for the 5K race is $15.  All races require pre- registration.  To register, call NCHS at 770-251-0207 or visit their website at nchs@newnanbiz.net.  Mastercard and Visa, will be accepted for all events.   Historical Society hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 to 12 pm and 1 to 3 pm; and Sunday, 2 to 5 pm.  You may always leave a message on the answering machine for a return call.
