The Successor To Newnan-Coweta Arts Council News Releases
Composed By: Forrest W. Schultz 770-583-3258 October 1, 2008 Website Created About World Premiere of VINTAGE HITCHCOCK at Legacy Theatre
Playwright Joe Landry Interviwed by Artistic Director Mark Smith In anticipation of the performance later this month of Vintage Hitchcock, a website has been created to answer the questions generated by this unusual play and the reason why its World Premiere is being held in the small town of Tyrone rather than in a large city like Atlanta. (In the info provided below, the word "Atlanta" means "Atlanta area".) The information below comes from two websites, the Legacy Theatre website www.thelegacytheatre.org and www.vintagehitchcock.com. The Legacy Theatre is run by a couple from Newnan, GA: Mark Smith, the Artistic Director, and Bethany Smith, the Executive Producer. October 17 - November 2, 2008 WORLD PREMIERE!
Joe Landry, author of one of the most produced plays in America in 2007, It's A Wonderful Live: A Live Radio Play, has chosen the The Legacy Theatre to premiere his new play, Vintage Hitchcock: A Live Radio Play. "This is New York City and WBFR presenting Vintage Hitchcock. Each week, at this hour, we bring you the excitement of the great stories of the strange and unusual. Dark and compelling yarns culled form the four corners of the world. Tonight, we present a trio of thrilling tales immortalized by the Master of Suspense, Mr. Alfred Hitchcock: 'The Lodger,' 'The Thirty-Nine Steps' and 'The Lady Vanishes'." The author himself will be working hand in hand with director, Mark Smith, and the cast to craft a piece that will be released for world-wide production in the near future. The Legacy will the be the first EVER to present this fantastic evening of thrills and suspense. Audiences will not want to miss out on the chance to be a part of this history-making production. For more information about the play , please visit the author's show website at http://vintagehitchcock.com/ Box Office (404) 895-1473

[Coweta Arts Tidbits] Joey Waldrop From Senoia in Offshoot Productions' Gallery Players
Coweta Arts Tidbits The Successor To Newnan-Coweta Arts Council News Releases
Composed By: Forrest W. Schultz 770-583-3258
September 17, 2008 Joey Waldrop From Senoia in Offshoot Production's "Gallery Players"
Next Performance September 28 in PTC
Recently it seems that more and more of Coweta County's arts news pertains to Senoia. The latest of these pertains to Senoian Joey Waldrop, who is a member of the "Gallery Players" of Offshoot Productions, one of the oldest performing arts groups on the Southside. Here is what Offshoot's Director, Dr. Susan Steadman has to say about Joey Waldrop and about the next performance of the Gallery Players, which will take place on September 28 in Peachtree City. "One of the actors in the Gallery Players is from Coweta: Joey Waldrop, who was brought up and lives in Senoia. Joey was an apprentice with Offshoot years ago, when he was a teenager. He has since graduated with a theatre degree from UGA, has had parts in movies and commercials. Here's his bio, in brief, from our program: Joey Waldrop (Ensemble) earned a degree in Theatre and Film Studies from UGA. His numerous stage credits include A Midsummer Night's Dream, King Lear, and The Last of My Solid Gold Watches. His recent film credits include the upcoming feature film Deadland and the television sitcom pilot Dixie Melodie. He can also be seen soon in a Coke Zero commercial. Joey is happy to be working with Offshoot again, after a long hiatus, and proud to be a member of the Gallery Players.
Info on the Gallery Players--next performance is Sunday, September 28, 7:00 p.m. at Gallery Row coffee in the Kedron shopping center in Peachtree City.
This Offshoot Productions ensemble features diverse actors ranging in age from twenties to fifties and with a variety of backgrounds in theatre and music. Rehearsals and several performances have enabled the Players to develop into a cohesive and very funny troupe. Actors include Elizabeth Clausen, Andy Fleming, Kristi Israel, Betty Mitchell, Paige Steadman and Joey Waldrop, all of whom have appeared in previous Offshoot shows over the years. The director, Susan M. Steadman, Ph.D., has staged nearly 70 productions for professional, alternative, community and university theatres. While establishing the first theatre program at the University of Michigan, Dearborn, she led a popular improvisation troupe and has widely taught improvisation techniques. Each performance is unique, and the group has hours of material to call upon at the drop of a hat. Furthermore, because the audience is always different, the show is always different. For example, in the ensemble's version of the Dating Game, the audience assigns different characters (real or fictional, from Cleopatra to Orphan Annie) to the women competing for a bewildered contestant. In another scene, laughs abound when the players must begin each line with the subsequent letter of the alphabet and the audience gets to blow the whistle—literally—if an actor slips up. Like variety? Watch the actors turn an everyday scene into a Shakespearean tragedy, science fiction movie, musical comedy, soap opera, Dr. Seuss book or television sitcom. Contact Offshoot Productions for details and reservations at (770) 631-2362 or offshootpr@aol.com. To learn more about Offshoot, the longest-running professional theatre on the Southside, visit www.offshoot.org.
