NEWS RELEASE
Musicians For Sunday Afternoon Program at Grantville Day Announced
Jerry Yates, Straynotes, and Greater Jehovah Baptist Choir to Perform
There will be a great program of gospel music on Sunday afternoon, September 16 as part of this year's New Grantville Days Festival, which is the new name for what has traditionally been called "Grantville Day". Kicking off the afternoon of fine music at 1:00 PM will be guitarist Jerry Yates from Newnan, who has been in the news during the past few months for several awards he has won, presented by his producer Rhon-Bob Productions and by the rating service of the Roots Music Association of Georgia. Earlier this week Yates made the news again when he revealed that he would be playing on Friday Sept. 14 at one of Atlanta's finest restaurants, the Red Light Cafe. Following Yates will be the choir of the Greater Jehovah Baptist Choir of Grantville, which has received several commendations including performing at a Presidential inauguration. This choir performed two years ago at Grantville Day and made such a great impact that they have been invited back again this year.
Concluding the afternoon will be the fine music of the Straynotes group, which consists of Alan Jackson's mother and his three sisters and two of their husbands. They have been very well received wherever they have played in the area and they have been written up in Georgia magazine. Their performance will be especially interesting because it will be one of their first since the members have changed the instruments they will be playing.
