Southern Writers Conference in Newnan on April 5 & 6
The past two years have seen great accomplishments by Coweta County's writers: twelve books published in 2006 and eleven books published so far in 2007. And this year Coweta's writers also received some well-deserved recognition by the first ever Coweta Authors Book Signing Extravaganza, to which all Coweta authors of a published book were invited. And now the word is out that Coweta will be the site of the Southern Writers Conference, which will be held on April 5 and 6 (from 10 AM through 5 PM each day) at the Country Inn in Newnan. Several hundred authors from Georgia and nearby states are expected to attend.
The Southern Writers Conference is also being organized by a Cowetan, Vickie Kennedy of Newnan, who has had four books published and who heads the Newnan-based workshop called the Writers Block. Kennedy is also the founder and director of the etreasures publishing company, which is sponsoring the conference. Information about the conference is found on the company's website The conference registration form can also be downloaded from that website. The conference is also being co-sponsored by the West Central Technical College.
Any writers who participate in any of the planned panel discussions will be able to attend the Southern Writers Conference free of charge. Conference registrants are not only entitled to attend any of the panels and talks, but also to conduct book signings there.
