New Coweta County Christian Writers Group To Meet on Feb. 19

The members of the Coweta Writers Group were recently informed that there are now so many published book authors in Coweta that we will probably soon see the formation of special groups of writers.  They were also informed that two Coweta Writers Group member -- Swanee Ballman and Linda Jennings -- had already formulated a plan to establish an organization for christian writers.  The prelimary meeting for this new group was held earlier this month and the next meeting, which will be the first official one, will be held on Thursday.  Here is the annoncement which had just been released by Linda Jennings:

This is just a reminder that a Christian writer's group is forming in Coweta County . Our first official meeting will be this Thursday, Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. at Coweta Community Church (Farmers Industrial Blvd.).

We will eventually separate into two groups:

           1) .  Those who have written, are in the process of writing, or want to write books

2).    Those who have written, are in the process of writing, or want to write scripts for movies, television & radio.

We now have both a Christian publisher and marketer living in our county.  Terribly exciting!

All writing must be either Christian or family friendly.

Hope to see you there.  Call (770-304-0282) or E-mail lajennings@charter.net for any questions.

Note:  Pastors, will you please forward this to your congregations?  Most every congregation has folks in them who want to write, but they simply don't know where to begin.  This will be a great starting place.  Thanks!

Blessings to all,

Linda Jennings

Joey Waldrop In Gallery Players Murder Mystery Improv Show

Coweta actor Joey Waldrop will be one of the performers in the Gallery Players new Murder Mystery Improv Show, which will debut in March.  The Gallery Players are the improvisation troupe of the Fayette-based Offshoot Productions.

Dr. Susan Steadman, the Director of Offshoot Productions, has just released this important announcement about this new Murder Mystery Improv Show:

Gallery Players Troupe Offers a New Murder Mystery Improv Show

Offshoot Productions' Gallery Players improvisation troupe has spent the past year developing an energetic ensemble and delighting audiences in a wildly comic exploration of life and relationships.  Now the troupe is offering a twist on the popular murder mystery.  In Murder Off the Cuff, the improv performers incorporate audience suggestions as to murder weapons, motivations, conspirator interaction, clue searching and much more.  In this evening of scenes, the actors may portray famous detectives, plot a crime, find ingenious ways of committing murder, or solve a mystery, all the while using the hilarious improvisation approaches that have created a loyal following.

The first performance in this evening of scenes with a murder mystery theme takes place on Friday, March 6, at 8:00 p.m. at It's a Grind coffee house, 1240 Hwy 54 West, across from Piedmont Fayette Hospital in Fayetteville.  The enticing aromas, delicious desserts and cozy seating are certain to add to the audience's enjoyment.

Tickets, which are $10 each, may be picked up in person at It's a Grind or purchased online with a credit card at www.offshoot.org

Tickets may also be ordered by mail, with checks made out to Offshoot Productions and sent to P.O. Box 2462 , Peachtree City , GA 30269 .

This is the third time that Offshoot Productions, a 15-year-old professional theatre company, has presented an evening of entertainment at It's a Grind.  Last November, the scripted show Rehearsal for Murder played to a standing room only crowd there, and the Gallery Players performed a comedy show in December.

Members of the Gallery Players include Elizabeth Clausen, Andy Fleming, Kristi Israel, Betty Mitchell, Paige Steadman and Joey Waldrop.  Usually four or five of the six actors, along with director Susan M. Steadman, Ph.D., perform at a venue.  In addition to presenting public performances such as this one at It's a Grind, the company performs at corporate functions, private parties and community events.

Legacy Theatre Children's Series Includes Most Valuable Player

Famous Play About Jackie Robinson Performed ONCE Only -- Feb. 14

One of the most important of all events in the history of American sport and in the history of American racial relations was when Jackie Robinson began to play baseball for the Brooklyn Dodgers.  A highly-acclaimed play about this subject will be included in the Children's Series at the Legacy Theatre in Tyrone.  Unfortunately there will be ONLY ONE performance on February 14 at 10:00 AM.  This is the information taken verbatim from the official flyer issued by the Theatre's Publicity Director Dustin Lewis:

Public Performance February 14 at 11am

    General Admission only $10!

Written by Gayle Cornelison, Mary Hall Surface, Charles Abernathy, Joseph Bostick, Duncan W. Graham, Helen Pettit, Kevin Reese, J. Steven White and Dorien Wilson

A true hero on and off the field, Jackie Robinson proved his friends, his enemies and the entire world wrong by breaking the color barrier within Major League Baseball. Through

captivating multi-media and stellar acting, this award-winning and historically accurate play follows Jackie from the sandlots of his childhood through his acceptance of the National League's MVP Award in 1949.

    Grade 4 and Up

Most Valuable Player has been presented to audiences of children and adults throughout the world. The production has been featured in a one-week residency at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.; at the Edmonton, Toronto, and Vancouver International Children's Theatre Festivals; on a one-month tour of Canada sponsored by the Canada Council; on a fifty-two-day tour of Europe sponsored by the United States Government; and as the only American company at an International Theatre Festival in Lima, Peru. The strength of Jackie Robinson's character and his courage crosses boundaries of age, race, and nationality. "A semester of instruction on human rights and social equality could not equal the insights gained from one hour's viewing of this powerful play."
