VOICES PRESENTS "CHRISTMAS MIST" ON DECEMBER 6

PEACHTREE CITY, GEORGIAOctober 30, 2008:  As part of their 2008-2009 season, Voices will be presenting "Christmas Mist" on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 7:30 pm.  They will be returning to The Wadsworth Auditorium for this second concert and will be offering their now traditional Post-Concert "Meet & Greet" Reception (approximately 9:30 pm.)  The concert will be preceded by a special photo opportunity with "The Christmas Fairy" at 6:30 pm.

Voices launched their current season on September 4 with the presentation of their Fall Benefit at the same venue.  Ms. Ugarte, Artistic Director, talks about the process behind the conceptual music selection:  "The way the pieces are chosen goes back to that flow I continuously refer to.  There is an idea behind the music and, for this two-year season, the idea spreads throughout the four concerts," as it evolves and reaches full fruition in September of 2009.  Referring to the unique blend of music and styles that Voices is now known for, Ugarte explains:  "It is most important how a piece precedes the prior work and follows the next."  The concert will have a pondering tone to it.  "To give you a hint, we will start with 'I Wonder as I Wonder.'  A question is presented.  Towards the end, an answer will emerge; though, it ought to be different for each individual, as it is ultimately a personal experience, but most definitely a miracle of love and of joy for all."

The solo female ensemble Zaphyra – composed of Maria Pia Ugarte, Jill Safko, Paige McCauley and Megan Zerbe -- will be offering solo and ensemble favorites like "Gesu Bambino," Andrew Lloyd Weber's "Pie Jesu," "My Favorite Things," "Where Are You Christmas" and "Little Drummer Boy" among others.  Young violinist Matthew Roberts returns to offer a rendition of Rachmaninoff's "Vocalise."  Local male vocalist, Brock Tarno, joins Voices for the first time with soundtrack favorites "The Christmas Shoes" and "Believe" from "The Polar Express" as well as other numbers.  Young harpist Kelly Abrams will also be performing as well as ballet dancer Stephanie Goehring and the Voices Youth Ensemble.

Carlos and Julissa Rodriguez from Carlos Salon in Peachtree City continue their association with Voices developing the hair design for "Christmas Mist."  "We have come up with a really nice concept that will help enhance the fantasy of what we are trying to do" continued Ugarte. Nacolia Gipp, from Styles by Nacolia based in Riverdale, will also be contributing in this area with the design of some hair components.  Piano Crafters continues their support providing the beautiful grand piano for the night and Argentinean Style Delights will provide some special treats for the "Meet & Greet" reception.  Both businesses are located in Newnan.

For this Holiday occasion, Voices will be offering a special photo op with "The Christmas Fairy."  "It is our intention to engage the interest of the young audiences as much as of the adults," explained Ugarte.  "What a better time to create interest in our kids than Christmas?"  In their search to develop a younger following, Voices looks to contribute towards the development of the professional musicians of tomorrow and the audiences to come. "I think it is vital for our kids to see performers their age on stage.  This is how possibility and creativity take off.  As you will see, we have several young performers for "Christmas Mist."  This event will most certainly be sure to provide a night of musical fantasy suitable for audiences of all ages.

Voices will once again offer their usual "musical amalgamation" looking to enchant those present.  "When everything comes together, we want to be able to gift our audience with enjoyment through a memorable musical experience, away from the stresses of everyday life. One of my favorite songs of the night is "Believe" from the 'Polar Express.'  If we can evoke that marvelous sense of hope in one of the hearts present at the concert, I will consider the night a wonderful success."

Tickets for the concert are $20.00 general admission; $15.00 children, students, seniors, armed forces, police and firefighters; $5 for the photo op; and are available for sale at the Voices website (www.VoicesOnline.com,) through Brown Paper Tickets (24/7 Ticket Ordering Hotline:  800-838-3006.)  Tickets can also be purchased at Scott's Bookstore in Newnan (28 S Court Sq.)
