Grantville Day Has New Sponsor, New Date, and New Name

The Grantville Better Home Town (GBHT) organization, which ran the annual Grantville Day community festival from 2002 through 2006, has decided it will no longer do so.  Shortly after this decision, the Grantville Veterans Association (GVA) decided they would run Grantville Day.  Sandra Luttrell, the Grantville Day Chairman with GBHT, will continue to be the Chairman with GVA.  Angela Carey, who was the Grantville Day Chairman during most of the time when it was run by GBHT and who resigned after last year's Grantville Day, has come back on board as Co-Chairman.  Another item of continuity will be that the writer of the Grantville Day news releases, Forrest Schultz, will continue to do so under the GVA auspices.  GVA has strongly stressed that it is NOT necessary to be a Veteran or a member of GVA to be involved in planning and running Grantville Day.

Another change in Grantville Day this year will be the date.  Ever since its founding in the 1990s Granville Day has always been held on the second Saturday in June.  One disadvantage with this date is the heat -- many people have complained that it is just too hot to be out of doors on that day.  Luttrell, the new Grantville Day Chairman, strongly agrees, and it was she who engineered the change to a cooler time of year.  The date chosen is Saturday September 15 and Sunday September 16.

Finally, the very name of Grantville Day has been changed to "The New Grantville Days Festival".  Since many people do not know that Grantville Day is a festival, it was felt that the term "festival" should be included in the name.

The first meeting of the Committee which will plan and run the New Grantville Days Festival  will be announced soon.
