A Medley of Holiday Events Coming Up at Arts Centre 
 
     The Centre for Performing and Visual Arts of Coweta County has by now become well known for the role it has played in the renaissance of the arts scene on the Southside.   The great holiday season of events coming up is a good example of this.  And the variety is interesting, as is evident from the features listed on the website of the Centre -- the photographic arts, vocal and instrumental music, and ballet:
 
 
  • Name of Event: "Christmastide"
    Event Type: Masterworks Chorale
    Date: November 27th
    Time: 7:30pm
    Description: A choir with members from the Newnan community brings beautiful sounds and harmony to the Centre for the holidays!
    Cost: Adults $15 Senior Citizens $12 Students $5 (must show student ID at time of purchase) Tickets are available at the Centre, Scott's Bookstore on the square and Morgan's Jeweler's in Ashley Park.

Name of Event: Paul Conlan Art Exhibit
Event Type: Photography Art Exhibit
Date: November 5th, 2007 - December 5th, 2007
Time: Gallery Hours are 8am to 4pm Mon.-Fri.
Description: "Images in Time" featuring the photography of Paul Conlan, a compelling look at unposed urban and rural life.

Name of Event: Coweta County Photography Exhibit
Event Type: Art Exhibit
Date: November 11th - December 5th
Time: Gallery hours: 8am - 4pm, Mon-Fri
Description: Coweta County High School students have been selected to display their photography along side photographer, Paul Conlan. The art will be judged and awards will be given. There will be an open reception on Sunday, November 11th at 2pm and a juror talk with the artist staring at 3pm.

  • Name of Event: "Celtic Christmas"
    Event Type: Mithril (Instrumental Group)
    Date: December 8th
    Time: 8pm
    Description: Mithril's unique progressive style has its roots in traditional Celtic music but moves far beyond that, weaving such diverse influences as American folk, classical and Middle Eastern melodies into their full tapestry of sound. Mithril continues to push beyond at the boundries, taking audiences of all ages on an eotic musical journey to Ireland, Scotland, and beyond.
    Cost: $18 for adults, $15 for Students and Senior Citizens. Tickets go on sale November 9th at the Centre, Scott's Bookstore and Morgan's Jewelers. For info or reservations call 770-254-2787.

 

  • Name of Event: The Nutcracker
    Event Type: Presented by the GA Youth Ballet
    Date: December 8th, 9th, and 15th
    Time: 2pm (Dec. 8th and 9th), 2pm and 7pm (Dec. 15th)
    Description: For the 4th year in a row, The Centre is pleased to host Georgia Youth Ballet's annual presentation of Tchaikovsky's holiday classic, The Nutcracker. GYB is a regional company featuring dancers aged 4-70+ from 11 metro counties. Audiences are in for a treat as they are charmed by dolls that come to life and are taken on a magical trip through twirling snowflakes to the Land of Sweets, where they will be enthralled by Chinese dragons and other wonderful surprises!
    Cost: December 8th is the Family performance and all tickets are $8. For all other performances tickets are $12 for Students/Senior Citizens and $15 for Adults. Tickets can be purchased at The Centre, Scott's Bookstore in downtown Newnan and at The Studio in Fayetteville.
