NCAA Reception for Monthly Exhibit at Espresso Lane Thursday

One of the perennial problems in the Visual Arts has been insufficient exposure of new art to the public.  The Newnan-Coweta Art Association (NCAA) has faced this challenge using a very unusual approach:  instead of trying to figure out how to get people to come to art galleries, it has established a program whereby it brings the art out to where the people are.  Let's face it:  few people go to art galleries, but a lot of people go to coffee shops.  Therefore the NCAA made an arrangement with a coffee shop on the Courthouse Square in downtown Newnan whereby it fills the walls of the shop with monthly themed exhibits of paintings by its members.  This coffee shop, formerly called "Gallery Row", is now called "Espresso Lane", and its new owner, Elna Coetzee, is just as enthusiastic about the arrangement as the former owner Bill Anderson was.  The Coweta arts community has benefited from this idea, which was conceived by Trisha Adams, who also served as its first Co-ordinator.

The current Co-ordinators, Dixie Kraft and Janice Shumaker, have announced that the Exhibit at Espresso Lane for September will be called "Artists Choice" because the paintings will be just that -- the artists choose their favorite paintings.  The Opening Reception will be held on Thursday September 6 at 7:30 PM at Expresso Lane.  This will be a great opportunity to meet the artists in the September exhibit -- there will be 30 artists there, those who have entered the 61 art works for the September exhibit.

Further information on this and any other NCAA activities is available on their website www.newcaa.com
