Articles on Martin Pate and Jerry Yates in Lifestyles Magazine

Last year was a great year for Coweta arts all year long and it began with a bang and ended with a bang.  During the first two months of 2008 two different Coweta artists won best in show in a national art contest. One of these was Martin Pate of Newnan, whose painting Lonely Road  won first place at the 6th Biennial National Art Exhibition (NAE) held at the Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda, Florida.  His art work  remained on display there until March 14.  The year ended with a bang on December 15 when Jerry Yates of Newnan

won the "Gospel Artist of the Year Award" which was presented to him at the  World United Music Festival in Texas by the Roots Music Association.

There are articles on both of these men in the April 2009 issue of Lifestyles magazine.  The article on Pate, written by Julie Washburn Souza, appears on pages 42 -44.  Included are five of Pate's paintings and his comments on them and a brief bio. Now is a good time to see Pate's paintings which are hanging in a special exhibit at the Dogwood Gallery in Tyrone.  Pate also has paintings exhibited year round both at the Dogwood and at the Flint Gallery at Panoply in Newnan.

The article on Jerry Yates appears on page 80.  It is written by Krista Franks and is accompanied by an excellent photograph of Yates playing his guitar taken by the Publisher Monica Gaddy.  In the article Yates briefly talks of his music and answers some very personal questions.  He plays mainly in restaurants, coffee houses, and communtiy festivals, such as last year's Grantville Day.

Info on MartinPate is available on his website www.pateart.com.
