Next NITWITS Shows at Newnan Theatre On May 8, 9

In addition to its regular performances of plays, the Newnan Theatre last year began presenting performances by its newly formed improvisation troupe, the NITWITS.  In the improvisation performances the actors do NOT know ahead of time what they will be doing.  Several of them are summoned onto a bare stage with no costumes, (usually) no props, no scripts, etc. and then are told what they must do.  For instance, in a performance I saw there several months ago, one of the times they were called on stage and told, "You are a bomb squad disassembling a bomb which has ___ minutes left til it explodes.  GO!"  To really appreciate it, though, you have to see it, which I encourage you to do.  The NITWITS are very good and very funny.

Here is what the Newnan Theatre Publicity Director Dianne Olsen says about their next performances:

                                        NITWITS ADDS FRIDAY SHOW

Due to popularity, Newnan Community Theatre Company's improvisational troupe, the NITWITS, have added a Friday evening performance along with their usual Saturday show.

At the performance, the troupe performs a variety of comedy sketches and games.  Some skits involve audience participation, with all skits you don't know what will happen next.  Their next shows will be May 8 and 9.  The show begins at 8 pm and admission is $5 at the door.  It's open seating, so arriving around 7:30 is recommended.  The hosts for the evening are Jeff Allen and Heather Hyde.

NCTC is located at 24 First Avenue in downtown Newnan.  For more information on the NITWITS and other events, visit their website at newnantheatre.com or call the theatre at (770) 683-6282.
