Schultz 770-583-3258 schultz_forrest@yahoo.com June 30, 2008 NCAA Artist Of The Month For July Announced Paintings of Sylvia Feenaghty Being Displayed in Newnan City Hall Each month the Newnan-Coweta Art Association (NCAA) chooses an "Artist Of The Month" who receives the honor of having his paintings displayed in the Reception Area of the Mayors Office of the Newnan City Hall. NEWNAN CITY HALL ARTIST OF THE MONTH FOR JULY
Silvia Garcìa-Carreras Feenaghty is named Newnan-Coweta Association's Artist of the Month for the month of July, 2008. Silvia is a native of the island of Cuba; has lived in Georgia since 1961. She started painting as a teenager with training in Ottawa, Canada and later on in her native Cuba while acquiring her Home Economics Degree, with a Minor in Arts. In the past, she has attended classes with many local and national artists but had set aside her brushes for a period of at least 25 years while her children were growing and later on while working in her husband's accounting firm.
Silvia took up her art after retirement and has fine tuned her craft under the guidance of Tom Powers in Newnan, Pam Hardin in Tyrone, Helen Hayes in Newnan, and Marlin Adams in Barnesville, Georgia. Many of Silvia's paintings grace the homes of art patrons throughout the USA, Europe and South America. Silvia's art is being displayed at 10 East Washington, Newnan; Bradley Street Gallery, Carrollton; Thomas Eye Center, Newnan; Espresso Lane, Newnan and at www.silviasart.com.
Silvia Garcìa-Carreras Feenaghty is a member of the Newnan-Coweta Art Association. NCAA members display their art on a regular basis at Espresso Lane, the coffee shop at the Square in Newnan; The artist also shows at the Annual Christmas Market Show held at the Old Depot. NCAA meets the third Thursday each month (from September through May) at the Harriet Alexander Art Center on Hospital Road at 7:00 p.m. Visitors and new members are welcome. An art demonstration is presented each month. Come and join the fun.
Newnan City Hall is located in downtown Newnan at 25 LaGrange Street. Citizens are encouraged to stop in and view the art on Monday- Fridays 8AM -5PM.
