You won't want to miss this year's Spirit Stroll. Costumed spirit guides Elizabeth Beers, Carol Healy, Debbie Rogers, Joan Crawford, and Louise Collins all have thrilling and chilling new tales to tell as they lead their guests through the "haunted" houses of the College Temple historic district. Dates for the Strolls are the last two Fridays in October (the 17th and 24th) and the fourth Saturday the 18th), at 7 and 9 pm.

The charming Queen Anne cottage at 41 College Street will be the setting for Dinner With the Dead, at 7 pm on Saturday, October 25th.  Homeowners Pamela and Richard Prange have done extensive restoration in this lovely old home, which features hand painted murals as well as stunning Victorian furniture and accessories. Added to this feast for the eyes will be one for the palate, with Chef George Rostovsky of Ten East Washington providing a mouth-watering dinner featuring his chicken penne pasta in vodka sauce. Dinner guests will be greeted and entertained by a whole cast of Civil War era characters, including nurse Fanny Beers (Elizabeth Beers), two female soldiers from the Nancy Harts Auxiliary, CSA (Trish Thompson and Nancy Matthews), General Joe Wheeler (Michael Boulas), Pvt. William Thomas Overby (Tom Redwine), and the Widow Wyatt, whose husband, Capt. Richard Wyatt, was killed in the Battle of Brown's Mill. Several "surprise" spirits may also waft in...

Tickets for Dinner With the Dead are $40; Spirit Stroll tickets are $15. Prepaid reservations are required for both these events, and can be made online at nchistoricalsociety.org or by calling the Male Academy at 770-251-0207. Both Visa and Mastercard are accepted.

Adding to the Halloween festivities are three races scheduled by NCHS on Saturday, October 25th: the Goblin Run, the One Mile Fun Run, and the Doggie Dash. The Goblin Run begins at 9 am, with the other two races starting around 8:30, all at The Male Academy on College Street and Temple Avenue. For those who register and pay before Monday, October 20th, all run tickets will be $15, afterwards, $18. Free children's activities include a ball jump, face painting and pumpkins from Uncle Bob's Pumpkin Patch as well as prize medallions. In additions to prizes for the races, t shirts will be supplied to all pre-registered participants. All runners, including canines, are encouraged to come in costume, which should make for a colorful, fun-filled morning. So make your reservations with The Male Academy now.
