Newnan Theatre Announces Improv Experiment on June 6

Starting last year the Newnan Theatre became known not only for plays but also for its Improv Troupe.  Now the Theatre is announcing an experiment in which the two of these will be COMBINED!!  In case you are wondering how this can be, here is how the Theatre's Publicity Director Dianne Olsen explains it:

If you're looking for a completely unique evening out, Newnan Community Theatre Company (NCTC) presents "Improvisational Experiment" Saturday, June 6 at 8 pm.

A group of actors from NCTC are experimenting with a different form of improv.  Their mission is to produce and perform a real and highly original play completely improvised based on the audience's decision.

The group will supply the audience with a list of five common literary themes as the starting point. The audience will select one of the 5 for the group to do a show about. They will break into pairs to brainstorm and perform. The audience will decide which stories progress until they get to their final scene.  There will be three rounds.  As each round ends, the audience will decide which storyline continues.  Pairs that are eliminated are added into the remaining scenes until they are all in the last and final scene.

Organized by Jeff Allen and Spencer Jordan, the group also includes Susan Patterson, Trey Stephens, Leslie Ray, JohnPaul Phillips, and Kim Marshall.

The evening costs $25 and includes a meal, dessert, and drinks. Seating is limited to 60 people.  You can purchase tickets online through the theatre's website or call the theatre at (770) 683-6282 for reservations.

NCTC is located at 24 1st Avenue in downtown Newnan.  In June, the theatre will also offer a potluck murder mystery called Family Reunion, KidsCamp for children aged 5 to 12, and an evening of improvisational comedy by the NITWITS on June 27th.  For information on all of these events and other upcoming happenings, visit their website at newnantheatre.com.
