American Ballet Theatre Summer Intensive Education Program

Accepts Three Classical Dance Theatre Students:  Novoa, Olson, Yim

The American Ballet Theatre (ABT), headquarted in New York City, is generally regarded as the best (or one of the best) ballet companies in the US.  Newnan's Classical Dance Theatre has announced that three of its students have been accepted into ABT's 2009 Summer Intensive Education program:  Meaghan Novoa, Sarah Olson, and Nani Yim.  The Publicity Director of CDT, Greta Watkins, has just released the following information concerning this great achievement:

Three Classical Dance Theatre Students Accepted into

American Ballet Theatre's Prestigious Summer Intensive

Three outstanding students who train at Classical Dance Theatre (CDT) will be attending American Ballet Theatre's Summer Intensive program in July.

Sarah Olson, Nani Yim, and Meaghan Novoa will be training in the American Ballet Theatre (ABT) summer training program, which "has earned a reputation as being the most thorough and rewarding experience a student can have during the summer ,"  according to the ABT website.

At the ABT Summer Intensive, these students will train in a minimum of four classes each day taught be ABT artistic faculty, alumni, and guest artists.  Classes will include ballet technique, pointe, partnering, variations, jazz, modern, hip-hop, acting for dancers, nutrition, dance history, yoga, music, injury prevention, among others.

According to ABT's Artistic Director, Kevin McKenzie, the " mission of ABT's Summer Intensive is to cultivate a universal understanding of the art form [dance] at its highest level, emphasizing not only the importance of high quality and brilliant technique, but also dance as an expressive vehicle to create art.."  ABT's Summer Intensive seeks to prepare dancers to be versatile as artists so they will have the tools to work with any dance company.

Miss Olson and Miss Novoa will be training in the ABT Summer Intensive held in Alabama, and Miss Yim will be training in the Detroit location.

All three dancers will be performing in the upcoming CDT Spring Concert to be held at Our Lady of Mercy in Fairburn on Saturday, May 30.  For more information, contact CDT at 770-252-5515 or visit www.classicaldancetheatre.com.
